Regarding Africa trademark registration services

We are registered agents of ARIPO, collaborating with the China Trademark Agency Alliance, to provide African trademark registration services for companies and individuals from China and other countries who need to register trademarks in Africa. We are pleased to offer African trademark registration services in Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Africa, and the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), as well as in Botswana, Cape Verde, Eswatini, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Of course! To register trademarks in Africa involves various national and regional intellectual property systems. The best method is to use a regional system, as it reduces costs. There are regional systems

ARIPO (African Regional Intellectual Property Organization):

covers African English-speaking countries. Only 13 member states can be designated (Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Gambia, Sao Tome and Principe, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia).
Provide a centralized registration system, allowing for protection in multiple member states through a single application.

OAPI (African Intellectual Property Organization):

Covers French-speaking African countries.
A single registration provides protection in all OAPI member states.
We can only submit applications through ARIPO because we are the agents.

Africa Trademark Registration Process

  • Submit a single application designating member states.
  • Examination and publication follow.
  • Timeline typically 12-15 months, subject to opposition.
